Being a first time gun owner.

First off let me state that what i post here is of my own opinion and not anyone else s. For those that don't know i recent got my record expunged from a incident that happened over nine years ago.  I am so glad i can get that shit off my back. but that's besides the point.

Soon as my shit got cleared My pops gave me the money to apply for my CPL. I already took the class earlier in the year so i just needed to submit the forms....my girl was kinda mad because she thinks i held her up by getting hers but i did tell her to wait...ehh wont do that again lol...she never lets me forgets...

Getting Comfortable and Confident :

So i already had my firearm and i needed to get comfortable with it. So whenever i go out i open carried. In my state of Michigan its legal to do it here so i figured why not right? shiiiiiiiiiiid man I've gotten so many looks, criticized about why i am carrying my firearm without a CPL lol... it was like it was unheard of...most of the people who voiced their opinion were only concerned was because I'm African American with a visible pistol lol....i seemed to not care... my thing is "i have to get comfortable carrying this thing so when i do have my CPL i can already get accustomed to having this firearm on my hip. Cant walk around these streets and i am not even comfortable carrying a gun...that wont end well. Now the confident part it comes with ease...NOW i can say that when i am carrying i am very confident when i have it on me. but before i had to get comfortable carrying it and with that the confidence comes along as i carried.

Choosing the right holster for yourself:

So I've learned that when having a firearm you are going to go through a shit ton of holsters.s my first holster was a Fobus paddle holster...i honesty DON'T like it for the fact that when i am drawing sometimes the holster is coming out as well and not just my pistol...i said fuck this...what if i am in a situation and i have to draw my pistol and i cant? that's a really bad look....Ive talked to my pops about it and he gave me some advice when using those holster as well as my other brothers as well. the second holster i have that shit looks like some tactical shit lol....its a OWB (outside waist band) and its SOOOOOOOOOOOOO captain obvious that i have a firearm lol i try to stay away from that one as well because when i am wearing it i feel that its "sagging" i cant even run with that shit on my waist lol...The one i have now is a IWB (inside waist band) this one is perfect...fits on my body and it doesn't move around...my only gripe is that when i wear my dress slacks sometimes it will not fit...but that's fine..its all about personal preference.

To Keep one in the chamber or not?:

Now they say treat every firearm as its always loaded...When i first started carrying concealing i did NOT carry one in the chamber...why? because i had the thought process of...yea I'll pull my shit out...rack the slide and then shoot....but then i thought...what if i don't have that much time to do all that shit? I'M FUCKED!....so i had to get comfortable carrying with one in the chamber...at first it was kinda nerve racking like "oh shit this bitch can go off if i do this" but after a while you'll get used to it. i asked some friends and family members do they carry one in the chamber they like HELL FUCK YEA....so yea...lol

What kinda gun should i get for my first handgun?:

Ever since i got my CPL people have been asking me "what should i get for my first gun?" Here's my theory....goto the gun range and start trying different guns...i say never ask someone because most people have they preference of what they like...some people may be glock fans some people maybe 1911 fans and etc. So to avoid that i say just go to the range and just try out different shit. thats what i did...i went and tried a different firearm did my research on the next one i wanted to try and compared the two....after going through like 6 pistols i have the one I felt comfortable with....fits my body and i know i can shoot it. Don't be like my little cousin lol...she is small like a toothpick....we went to the range (because she wanted to try some pistols) and she wanted this big ass 45 glock...not the sub compact...the standard!!! So yea make sure you go to the range and just try out different handguns..

That's all for now...thanks for reading.
